Hi my name is Laura, I live in Neath, South Wales and I am here to tell the story how I beat meningococcal septicaemia three times.

I was feeling fine one minute and the next I was fighting for my life. I don’t remember a lot about it, I was seven months pregnant and I didn’t know I lost my little girl because of this.

"The doctor told my mam to call the family, he thought I was not going to make it"

I had a rash, my headache was really bad, I couldn’t look at the light and my neck was hurting. I couldn’t walk so my stepdad and my mum carried me to the doctors. He said I was fine, just needed to rest.

Later the doctor came to see me and he told my mother I had to go to hospital ASAP or I was going to die. I can’t remember what happened to me in the hospital.

The doctor told my mam to call the family, he thought I was not going to make it, but here I am today. I have memory loss after it and I do have really bad headaches. I had a blood clot on the brain to go with it and it’s still there to this day. The second time I had it I didn’t have the rash so please everyone don’t wait it could come later. xx
