Felix White

At 32 weeks pregnant I awoke feeling something wasn't quite right.

My baby's movements had slowed down. I decided to go and get myself checked at the maternity hospital expecting them to say all was well and sending me on my way. Instead I was rushed for an emergency c section and my tiny baby boy Felix was born 2 months early.

Following his delivery I became septic due to my water being infected and my baby was left fighting for his life. Within 24 hours he had deteriorated and his blood results showed he had listeriosis, a dangerous type of food poisoning that can pass through the placenta to the baby. This prompted a lumbar puncture. The results of this shook my world, how can my perfect baby boy have meningitis at only 24 hours old?

"How can my perfect baby boy have meningitis at only 24 hours old?"

Despite all the odds Felix showed the world how tough he was and managed to fight it!

Thankfully Felix is a happy and healthy nearly 1 year old, thanks to the quick thinking of the doctors and nurses.

This is the reason they tell expectant mothers to be so careful with what they eat, it only takes one wrong thing to cause devastating effects.
