Felicity Gorham

I was likely exposed to meningitis in 1970, the day I was born at the Radcliffe hospital, in Oxford.

As an effect of meningitis, I acquired hydrocephalus. I had my first shunt put in to treat hydrocephalus at nine weeks of age.

"I have been, and will continue to be, shunt dependant for the rest of my life."

I'm part of the first generation of infants to have acquired hydrocephalus and live to adulthood. The First Generation is considered babies born 1955-1972.

I have been, and will continue to be, shunt dependant for the rest of my life.
