Meningitis Research Foundation supports World Immunization Week

Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) is supporting World Immunization Week (24 – 30 April 2019) which aims to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease.

Immunization saves millions of lives every year and is widely recognised as one of the world’s most successful and cost-effective health interventions.

Yet, there are still nearly 20 million unvaccinated and under-vaccinated children in the world today.

The theme of this year’s campaign is Protected Together: Vaccines Work!, and the campaign celebrates Vaccine Heroes from around the world – from parents and community members to health workers and innovators – who help ensure we are all protected, at all ages, through the power of vaccines.

Vaccination is the only way to prevent diseases like meningitis. World Meningitis Day (24 April) falls within World Immunization Week and MRF has been supporting both campaigns to raise awareness of the impact that meningitis can have on people, and the importance of vaccination for preventing the disease.
