MRF's plans in the face of coronavirus

Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) is following all government and official public health advice on coronavirus for our events in the UK and Ireland.

We are continually reviewing the guidance and ensuring we do everything we can to minimise the risk of ill health for our staff and supporters.

The MRF team are planning for every eventuality and we are reviewing all events regularly.

Fundraising events

As you will all be aware, on Friday we learned that the London Marathon was postponed until October 2020. While this is disappointing news for everyone concerned, it is positive news that the event organisers plan to hold the race this year and this would give most runners a chance to still take part. We are assuming a range of similar (though smaller) events that are important for our fundraising over the coming months may also follow suit. As yet, we do not know whether they will go ahead, be postponed or cancelled but we will keep you updated.

The MRF team are planning for every eventuality and we are reviewing all events regularly. We are in regular contact with organisers to ensure everyone is updated if plans change. For anyone who is affected by a cancellation or postponement, we will be contacting you as soon as possible and we are available to help answer questions.

... we are available to help answer any questions.

Support Events (Meet-Ups and Pushing the Boundaries)

We have potponed our supporter events for the time being.

We are still able to offer our excellent meningitis support to those in need. Our helpline, facebook and live chat remain open as usual, as do our other support services

We also know that families and individuals we support, who have experienced the impact of an infectious disease before, may find this time especially difficult.

Advice for individuals

We know people may be very anxious at this time and we encourage everyone to follow official advice.

There is a lot of misinformation shared online, so please check official information.

We also know that families and individuals we support, who have experienced the impact of an infectious disease before, may find this time especially difficult. Our support team is always here if you need to talk to someone.

The MRF Membership and Support team are here for you for any questions you might have about meningitis and septicaemia and their effects on you or your family and friends.
