Mason Swindells - Meningitis in your words
Mason was rushed to hospital at fourteen months old with stomach pain before he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with meningitis and sepsis. He had a skin graft on his foot and a PICC line fitted to his heart.

Since then, he had to learn to sit and walk due to brain damage on his left side, which left him with learning difficulties and problems with his hearing and eyesight.

Although he finds life hard sometimes, Mason is now a happy ten-year-old boy who loves to ride his quad bike and is a huge meningitis fact fan. He always puts his best foot forward and takes on any challenge that comes his way. I never imagined by song’s life would be like this after meningitis, but he still gives everything a go with a little help.

My advice to other parents going through this would be to never hold them back and to let them try everything possible.
