Ian David Mills' story

Susan shares the story of her son Ian’s death from meningitis following six days in a coma.

My son did not turn up for work one day. His girlfriend alerted the police because she knew how reliable he was. The police broke in and found my son unconscious.

He was admitted to hospital where he was diagnosed with meningitis. He was medically put into a coma and did not regain consciousness, he died six days later.

I thought meningitis affected much younger children.

I constantly berate myself for my lack of knowledge. I thought meningitis affected much younger children.

I don’t think that my son received the most informed care.

Thank you for the support that I have received from the Foundation.
