From April to October 1989, approximately 4000 cases of meningitis due to Neisseria meningitidis serogroup A were reported in Nairobi, and unfortunately, I was one of the 4000 cases when I was barely one to two months old.
Having grown with a mark on my forehead I regularly asked my mother what happened, and she could explain the ordeal to me. I learnt that I spent a year plus in the hospital until one day my family members gathered by my hospital bed and am told my older cousin to lead the prayers that God may take my soul instead of letting me live in pain and agony. But miraculously I got well and that’s why I always tell people that “At your finishing point, God takes it over”.
In the earlier years of my life I spent more time in the hospital than at home because of headaches but with time and treatments am fully recovered, although left with a big scar on my head which always reminds me of God's love for me.
When I look at myself in the mirror, I see God's chosen one.
Thank you CoMO for choosing me to be able to share my story hoping to encourage someone.
At your finishing point, God takes over.
