I had an operation for a rare brain-type tumour called an acoustic neuroma which was a success. However, I was unlucky in that I caught a severe infection in hospital which turned out to be meningitis (I'm not sure what type). Fortunately, I was in the right place and had a lumbar puncture done plus intravenous drip for antibiotics.

My recovery has been slow and still ongoing. I needed physiotherapy on discharge from the hospital and it's hard to say if it was due to the operation or meningitis. I have degraded hearing now so I wear hearing aids. I also took early retirement which helped my health.
