Scottish Sports Fair Raises £1,000 for MRF

19 December 2016

The Highland Field Sports Fair in Inverness, Scotland, is an annual non-profit making event and involves field sports activities and competitions that the whole family can get involved in. The main purpose has always been to raise funds for charity.

This year’s event, held in August, was a muddy affair but everyone had a good time nevertheless and succeeded in raising funds for good causes.

At a recent committee meeting, it was agreed that £1,000 of the funds raised at the 2016 fair would be donated to Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF). The committee hope that the funds will help MRF to continue to campaign for the government to evaluate the effectiveness of the MenB vaccine in teenagers.

Mary Millar, MRF Scotland Manager said, “Meningitis and septicaemia can be deadly and can leave survivors with life altering after effects. It’s fantastic that the Highland Field Sports Fair has recognised the work we’re doing to campaign for better protection for everybody. We’re so grateful that we’ve been chosen to receive these impressive funds and they will be sure to make a huge difference.”
