National Windscreens continued support for MRF
02 October 2012
A National Windscreens team which took part in the annual Dragon Boat Festival at Bristol’s historic city docks on 26 September has raised more than £1,000 for Meningitis Research Foundation.
The 17-strong team competed against 26 other crews in the spectacular event over a 250 metre course which provided a thrilling show for the crowds of spectators and raised many thousands of pounds for a variety of charities and a wide range of good causes.
The team was organised by Regional Operations Manager Alan Mealing with volunteers from other departments and branches in the region. Thrifty Car and Van Rental provided a courtesy van to transport them to the harbourside from their office in central Bristol.
Alan Mealing said: “It was an amazing day with all Departments of National Windscreens coming together with employees from Salisbury, Trowbridge and the Midlands travelling to Bristol to participate, as well as nine members of the head office staff. They braved difficult weather conditions to support the team, adding to a great team spirit. Everyone got very wet but we had a great day with a barbecue and gazebo on the dockside, and it was a fabulous fund-raising result.”
Kate Baldwin, Corporate & Development Fundraising Officer at Meningitis Research Foundation said: “We’re so grateful to National Mobile Windscreens for all their support over the years, and especially this fantastic effort in the Dragon Boat Race on Sunday in the wet and windy weather. As well as helping to raise much-needed funds for our work to fight meningitis, their support helps raise awareness of this devastating disease.”
