Fashion show to raise vital funds for MRF
10 February 2012
The Mayor of Thornbury and Chair of the Town Council Gill Brooks is organising a fashion show in aid of her charity of the year - Meningitis Research Foundation.
The show is being supported by a number of local Thornbury shops including: Truly You – Bridal, La Moda, Wildings, Mackays, Tia Tia, Big Tall Order, Twenty One Store and Alexandra and will take place on the 2nd March at Armstrong Hall.
Gill said: “Meningitis Research Foundation is my charity of the year so I really wanted to do something to raise funds for them whilst highlighting the fantastic shops we have in the town. Meningitis and septicaemia can kill in hours and many people who recover may be left with permanent disabilities or a range of after-effects that dramatically alter their lives. As a mother and grandmother I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to lose a loved one or live with the after effects ".
Kate Baldwin, Corporate & Development Fundraising Officer at MRF said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by the Mayor as her Charity of the Year. As a national charity we are proud to be based in Thornbury and warmly welcome this local support. The fashion show is a great way of local people supporting a local charity whilst also seeing what their local businesses have to offer.”
“We are always looking for companies and other organisations who would be willing to support us by either considering us as their Charity of the Year, entering teams into sponsored events like the Bristol Half Marathon, or simply having a collecting box in the office”.

Tickets for the fashion show cost £10 per person (including a glass of wine) and can be bought from Thornbury Town Hall and the shops taking part or alternatively contact: 01454 412103
