HOLLYOAKS student Ash Kane will be left fighting for life after being struck down with meningitis this week.

The episodes will be screened on  E4 tonight at 7.00pm and C4 tomorrow at 6.30pm and the story will continue throughout the week.

Pals of the party girl, played by Holly Weston, think she just has a hangover – until she collapses at her university halls. Her loved ones will be left terrified that she will not pull through after she falls into a coma.

Speaking about the dramatic new twist, Holly said: "I think it's a very relevant storyline for Hollyoaks to do, because meningitis tends to affect younger adults. "That's why they try to make people at university more aware of it."

MRF's Helpline details will be provided at the end of the show by Hollyoaks Viewer Support.
