Bakewell Mayor waves off walkers

Bakewell Mayor waves off walkers

27 May 2014

A big thank you to newly appointed Bakewell Mayor Alyson Hill who waved off our walkers this morning as they set off on day five of our 25th Anniversary Walk across the Peak District.

Led by charity Chief Executive Christopher Head and other senior staff, this 25th anniversay walk is an eight day challenge covering 100km of the beautiful Peak District National Park.

The walk which started on Friday 23 May in Sheffield ends on Friday 30 May with a tour of the National Meningitis Reference Laboratories in Manchester where the walkers and members will be given the opportunity to find out more about one of our research projects - the MRF Genome Library – a world first in medical research.

Around 100 members and supporters are walking with us this week and hoping to raise a minimum of £100 each in sponsorship, to sponsor them go to: http://www.justgiving.com/teams/walk25
