DanielleHassett - Meningitis in your words
I was so lucky
Before I turned eight
That someone was worried
And determined my fate

What looked like a bug
No sign of a rash
Red and blue sirens
Off we went in a flash

A number of days
Went by off my toes
Unable to move
Or scratch my nose

But when they announced
I could go on the ward
They helped me learn how to walk
And I kept moving forward

I was so lucky
I got to turn eight
So please learn the signs
And act, never wait.
