Members' Day 2008
We are happy to announce the date and venue for our latest annual members' day.
This year the Knowsley Safari Park, Merseyside plays host to the members' day on Saturday 13 September. The day promises to be a great occasion where families can get together, meet the helpline team and receive reduced entry to one of the UK's premier safari parks. Members are at the centre of our work. We offer free membership to people who have direct experience of meningitis and septicaemia. Many members are bereaved, or people who have recovered, some with after effects or a disability. There are currently over 6000 members of the Foundation and this number is growing all the time.
Members are offered ongoing support, telephone befriending access to in-depth information and special member events. Our newsletter Microscope keeps members up-to-date with the work of the charity and its fight against the diseases througout the world.
Members are a valuable part of the Meningitis Research Foundation team as we work towards our vision of a world free from meningitis and septicaemia. Many members work in partnership with the charity to fight back against these devastating diseases by:
- raising funds to fight meningitis and septicaemia
- helping and supporting others by becoming a befriender
- participating in our awareness work by becoming a media representative
- distributing awareness resources
- representing the Foundation at events and cheque presentations or giving talks
- assisting with research by providing case studies and information for scientists and health professionals working on the Foundation's research programme
