I had bacterial meningitis 3 times at age 3, 4 & 9. I also a bout of septecemia somewhere inbetween. I have been suffering with lots of ailments but not all together. Some of the ailments during my teens included Fight & flight issues, severe headaches, aches and pains, acne, constipation, depression and an inability to concentrate. I lost the hearing in my left ear on the 2nd bout and at 17 started to lose my hearing in my right ear, with the onset of tinitis, asthma and hayfever. My son had meningicoccal meningitis at age 4 and is now almost 14. I am just finding out through this website that his learning difficulties are likely a result of his illness. He also seems to take forever to get over colds and other small ailments, he has aches and pains and seems to crash and burn after exercise. Sometimes he ends up in bed for days with fatigue and has even lost feeling in his legs after a cold only to return 48 hours later. I am wondering if there is a link with chronic fatigue and meningitis?

Three weeks ago my father was diagnosed with pneumoccal meningitis and got strep A from an ear infection. he was in intensive care for 8 days , then a hgih dependency unit and he is now on a medical ward. He is beginning to recognise family members but is very confused and disorientated and unsteady on his feet.he does not seem to be aware that he is in hospital adn what has happened to him. he has little appetite and is sleeping a lot at present. he is also getting some bad headaches.
