Fetal position to ease crying

Our daughter was six months old when contacting meningitis. The initial concern we had was when laid down in her cot she immediately started to cry. We realised that by placing her in the fetal position this stopped the crying. Hence the first alarm. It was not however until the purple rash appeared was it obvious there was a bigger problem. The brochures in hospital and doctor surgerys do no make mention that if a baby displays pain or continually crys when in the prone position then that is also a sympton of meningitis. We think that if that knowledge had been brought to our attention then the alarm bells would have rung two days earlier a perhaps she would not of lost her sight in one eye.
