Felix Byam Shaw, aged 14, died on holiday in France on 19 July 2014 from meningococcal septicaemia.

Tribute to Felix by Neil Pickup – Oxfordshire Cricket Board U10 Boys Manager and Mathematics Teacher at The Dragon School Oxford.

‘Felix, a top-order batsman with a fierce cut shot, made his first century at the tender age of 12, played for Oxfordshire County Age Group sides from Under 10, as well as captaining the Under 13s last summer.

Felix was a pupil at the Dragon School in North Oxford for five years, before earning a place at Eton and passing Common Entrance with flying colours. Hard-working, bright and organised, he was popular amongst staff and pupils alike, and his positive, outgoing and inclusive personality made him a natural choice for leadership roles in many teams throughout his time at the school.

Whether at fly-half, central midfield standing over a free-kick, or in the slips, his voice was usually the first to be heard - cajoling his friends to many winning seasons. He also led by example, never shirking the responsibility of taking a pressure penalty or calling for a skied catch.

"We are truly lucky to have known him. "

My Latin is less than limited, but I have enough to know that "Felix" is Latin for "lucky". We are truly lucky to have known him. Rest in Peace, Felix.’

Our thanks to Milo Frank for planning and organising a sponsored bike ride raising an incredible £15,753 in memory of Felix.
