Dionthe reflects on her experience of cryptococcal meningitis and how it changed her life forever.
It started with bad headaches I thought were coming from ruptured disc in my neck.
Before you know it and being sent home from the ER with muscle relaxers I couldn’t look at any light and was very, very dizzy.
Googled my symptoms and fungal meningitis popped up. Went back to ER in severe pain and told them to check me for this.
Sure enough my white blood cells were super high and I was given a positive for coccidiosis fungal meningitis.
It has now been over a year and I still am not back to what I was before this happened.
After almost 2 months in and out of the hospital I went home. Started drinking antioxidants fruit smoothies and 800 mg of flucozenal a day.
It has now been over a year and I still am not back to what I was before this happened. Headaches occur often, vision problems, no smell or taste, pain in every joint. No one has an explanation for my joint pain. Has anyone had this with lasting effects? I would say depression as well.
