On 5  May 2011, we lost our beautiful, loving, kind, generous, happy son, Dan, to meningococcal septicaemia. I cannot go through the whole start to finish as it is very painful and is worse than our worst nightmare come true.

The early symptoms were that he had were pains in legs, sickness, very high temperature, talking gibberish and sleepy.

I took him to the hospital and they sent me home diagnosing him with viral tonsillitis. The next morning only hours after being sent home he had a dreadful rash and was unconscious. Dan was rushed to the hospital and the doctor told us our son was very sick. He was transferred to Evelina Children's PICU, and what seemed like ages but was only a matter of hour or so we watched our son lose his battle with this terrible illness.

"We all love him so much and miss him every second of the day"

I cannot describe the pain we feel, our life will never ever be the same again. The day before we were a normal happy family of four, then very suddenly and unexpectedly our eldest 4 year old son was not here anymore.

My son is the most happiest and loving child and sees no wrong in nobody. We cannot understand what happened and why him, and it's been a year on and I don't think we ever will.

We all love him so much and miss him every second of the day. I honestly don't know how we are still standing today.

Our youngest son is our focus and also knowing that one day we will see our eldest son again because he is in heaven playing and being the happy little boy we miss and love so much.
