Have your say to help defeat meningitis by 2030

Your voice has never mattered more.

We need your voice to help us defeat meningitis. Your views will help develop a global plan that will tell governments what is needed by people at risk of or affected by meningitis.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and other major health organisations behind a new global plan to defeat meningitis are inviting the public to have their say to help shape the plan.

Meningitis affects more than 5 million people globally each year. While other vaccine-preventable diseases have seen global rates drop by 70-90%, meningitis is drastically behind, dropping just 53% between 1990 and 2017.

This needs to change. Your voice has never mattered more.

There are two ways to get involved:

1. If you are short of time, you can fill out the quick survey below telling us the one thing you would prioritise to help defeat meningitis

2. You can take part in the full World Health Organization Consultation (details at the bottom of the page)

The survey

Help shape the plan by telling us what you would change or prioritise in your country to ensure meningitis is defeated. Take part in the short survey below and take a stand against meningitis.

Your answers will help inform government officials what actions need to be prioritised to defeat meningitis, a largely preventable disease.

World Health Organization (WHO)  Consultation

The draft Global Roadmap for Defeating Meningitis by 2030 has been posted on the WHO website for a round of public consultation and comments, until Friday, 26 July 2019.

A global roadmap to defeat meningitis by 2030 is being developed by a WHO-led multi-organisation partnership assembled into a Technical Taskforce. Meningitis Research Foundation is part of that Taskforce. The roadmap defines the Vision and Strategic Framework around which future priority efforts will coalesce in terms of Prevention and Epidemic Control, Diagnosis and Treatment, Disease Surveillance, Support and Care for people affected by meningitis, and Advocacy and Engagement. This draft is the product of preliminary consultations with a wide range of stakeholders and experts.

All comments received by the published deadline (Friday, 26 July 2019) will be considered in the preparation of the next version of the roadmap and will guide the development of this global strategy.
