The Joint Advocacy of Meningococcal Information and Education (or J.A.M.I.E.) Group was set up in 2009 to help meningitis survivor Jamie Schanbaum share her experiences and knowledge about meningitis.
The organization helps lead the fight against meningitis through education and community awareness, and by advocating for increased information for students, parents, teachers and the medical profession. The J.A.M.I.E. Group worked with the The Immunization Partnership and the Williams family to make the Jamie Schanbaum / Nicolis Williams Act law in Texas in 2011, which meant that all new college students would be vaccinated against the disease.
