Abdul Matin

I am the Professor of Medical Microbiology at Health Services Academy, Islamabad, Pakistan.

My journey started with my PhD studentship working with encephalitis and meningitis (both bacterial and protozoal) in 2005 at Birkbeck, University of London, UK.

Since then, I have been looking at the role of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) to understand how these pathogens traverse the BBB to gain access into the central nervous system to produce disease. These studies will help us to identify potential targets, which may lead to new methods of diagnosis and development of therapeutic interventions against these diseases.

Therefore, I’d like to learn and share my experience with CoMO and future prospects after COVID-19.
