Raj Foods’ Fundraising Success

11 March 2008

Park Royal based Raj Foods put on a glittering gala dinner at Brent Town Hall on 8 March in aid of national charity Meningitis Research Foundation.

350 guests attended from all over the Country to hear speeches from the Mayor of Brent Cllr Harshadbhai Patel, Raj Radia of Raj Foods and Neil Hardman from Meningitis Research Foundation. Guests were treated to a performance by Bollywood Dancing Duet "Shootin' Stars" before dining on a sumptuous menu of contemporary Indian cuisine supplied by Raj Foods. The evening concluded with live Bollywood music from Mahesh and Nitu Ghadvi whose sparkling performance captivated guests and kept the dance floor full into the early hours. The Foundation received a cheque for £15,051 from ticket sales for the dinner, with further donations to come from a collection on the night and numerous cheques received after the event.

Neel Radia of Raj Foods says: "I'm delighted at the success of the gala dinner and the amount of money we've raised for Meningitis Research Foundation. I'd like to thank everyone who attended and contributed their time and money to such a wonderful evening."

Meningitis Research Foundation spokesperson Neil Hardman says: "The evening was a fantastic success. We're incredibly grateful to Raj Foods, the Mayor and Mayoress of Brent, Mr C P Patel of Gujarat Samachar and The Asian Voice, and all the companies and guests who helped raise a huge amount of money. As a charity we rely almost entirely on donations to continue our vital work, and a gift of this size is remarkably generous."

The money raised will help further Meningitis Research Foundation's three core aims: Funding research into meningitis and septicaemia, raising awareness of the diseases and supporting those affected.
