Parachuting into the record books for meningitis
25 June 2002
On Sunday 23 June, 144 people plunged 10,000 feet to break the British record for the most tandem skydivers at one airfield in one day. The jumps took over 12 hours to complete, and over 70 people took part in aid of Meningitis Research Foundation.
This once in a lifetime exhilarating event took place at Hinton Airfield, near Oxford. The record-breaking fundraisers have raised over 10,000 for Meningitis Research Foundation - helping to make a real difference to the lives of others, even to save lives. As the Charity relies almost entirely upon voluntary donations to fund its vital work, this money will be a valuable contribution.
Meningitis Research Foundation funds vital scientific research into the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia - the blood poisoning form of the disease - raises awareness of the diseases, and offers support to those affected. However, if you missed your chance to take part in this fundraiser, don't worry - just call Julie on 01454 281814 to ask for more information about doing a parachute jump in aid of Meningitis Research Foundation.
