Burroughs Day lead company support for Foundation

10 July 2002

Companies can show their support for Meningitis Research Foundation in a multitude of ways. There really is something for everyone, from parachute jumping and running in marathons for the energetic, to Give Aa You Earn for those that wish to give regularly and tax efficiently.

One company currently taking positive steps to support our work is Burroughs Day Solicitors. The Bristol Law firm are actively helping us to achieve our vision of a world free from meningitis and septicaemia, with their 144 staff lending their time and enthusiasm to a company Charity Challenge for 2002. Striving for a grand total of £3500, 12 departmental teams are organising one fundraising event each during the year with a minimum target of £250.

The year of events kicked off with a Quiz Night and Unwanted Christmas Present Raffle. With the involvement of over 100 Burroughs Day staff, family and friends, the night was a great success raising more than 400 for the Foundation. Since then the Employment Team have take their courage in their hands by participating in a sponsored zip slide from a height of 120 ft down the Avon Gorge in Bristol and, in June, staff donned their gladrags for a James Bond style Casino Royale evening. And looking to the future, forthcoming events include a September Superstitions Ball.

Robin Davey, Partner of the firm said: "The Challenge is proving a great success, giving all members of Burroughs Day the chance to have fun together and to work towards a goal with the Foundation which could, and we hope will, benefit so many".
