Make Music with Marvin

02 April 2003

Meningitis Research Foundation is calling on children's nurseries thoughout the UK and Ireland to take part in a musical extravaganza while helping to fight meningitis and septicaemia - devastating diseases that affect the under fives more than any other age group.

This is a chance for local children to get creative, have a lot of fun, and do something we all know they are very good at - making loads of noise! Meningitis Research Foundation's friendly monster, Marvin, came up with the idea of going music mad this May, and has even got his own special song for nursery children to sing along to.

The Foundation has a FREE Make Music with Marvin pack, bulging with all the information you need, plus ideas on musical instruments to make, Marvin's song, and special Marvin stickers and resources to ensure your event will go with a bang!

Nurseries will also receive our new resource, Tot Watch, which contains vital symptoms information for the parents and other carers of toddlers. Over half of all cases of meningitis and septicaemia, the blood poisoning form of the disease, occur in the under fives. So this is a chance to arm yourself with potentially life-saving information, while helping to raise crucial funds for Meningitis Research Foundation by making music with Marvin.

To request your FREE Make Music with Marvin pack contact Sarah on 01454 281814 and start planning how you will help, now!

What progress is being made?

Since it was founded in 1989, the charity has awarded 122 research grants, leading to many advances in the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia. The total value of the Foundation's investment in vital scientific research is nearly £13.5/€19 million.
