Midsummer Madness for Meningitis

01 June 2003

Summer is upon us and Meningitis Research Foundation is asking people in Dover to go midsummer mad by taking part in a sun-drenched summer activity and raise vital funds for the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.

Perhaps you've always wanted to do a parachute jump, well this could be the prefect opportunity for you to take the plunge. Or get on your 'mad rags' and have a midsummer garden party or barbeque.

Even the kids can join in with Midsummer Madness by taking part in our special nursery event Make Music with Marvin who is our friendly monster. So why not get the whole family involved in the fun, throw off the shackles of winter, get out and enjoy those increasingly light evenings and sunny days, and go mad in a frenzy of fundraising for the Foundation.

This is not just the chance to be silly in the sunshine or get glammed up in a mad outfit, because by getting sponsored to go midsummer mad you will help make a real difference to lives of others, even to save lives. Meningitis and septicaemia - the blood poisoning form of the disease - can strike anyone of any age, but those most at risk of these devastating diseases are babies, children and young adults.

For your FREE Make Music with Marvin pack or Midsummer Madness pack, bulging with all the resources and ideas you need, call our Fundraising team on 01454 281814 now and let the madness begin!

What progress is being made?

Since it was founded in 1989, the charity has awarded 122 research grants, leading to many advances in the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia. The total value of the Foundation's investment in vital scientific research is nearly £13.5/€19 million.
