Make Music with Marvin for meningitis

29 March 2004

Meningitis Research Foundation is calling on children's nurseries across the country to take part in a musical extravaganza while helping to fight meningitis and septicaemia - devastating diseases that affect the under fives more than any other age group.

This is a chance for children to get creative, have a lot of fun, and do what children do best - make loads of noise! Meningitis Research Foundation's friendly monster, Marvin, came up with the idea of going music mad this spring, and has even got his own special song for nursery children to sing along to.

The Foundation has a FREE Make Music with Marvin pack, bulging with all the information needed. It's full of ideas on musical instruments to make, words to Marvin's very own song, with balloons and Marvin stickers for all the children to ensure the event goes with a bang!

Nurseries will also receive our resource, Tot Watch, which contains vital symptoms information for the parents and other carers of toddlers. Meningitis and septicaemia - the blood poisoning form - kill more children in the UK than any other infectious disease. So Making Music with Marvin is a great chance to arm yourself with potentially life-saving information, while helping to raise crucial funds for Meningitis Research Foundation.

To request your FREE Make Music with Marvin pack contact Claire on 01454 281814 or fundraising@meningitis.org and start planning how you will help, now!

What progress is being made?

Since it was founded in 1989, the charity has awarded 122 research grants, leading to many advances in the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia. The total value of the Foundation's investment in vital scientific research is nearly £13.5/€19 million.
