Take the plunge and raise funds for Meningitis Research Foundation

31 May 2004

Meningitis Research Foundation is looking for high flyers to have the experience of a lifetime by parachuting from 10,000 feet in a bid to raise 35,000 in just one day for the charity.

Whether you're an experienced jumper or have never jumped before, 5 September is the date for your diary as it's National Jump for Meningitis Research Foundation Day.

If you're a first time flyer, don't worry, you won't be on your own. As one of 240 others taking the plunge, after being fully trained, you'll be harnessed to an instructor as you take a tandem leap. What's more, you can jump for free in return for raising a minimum amount of sponsorship.

And if you do get scared on the way down, just think of the money you're raising for a good cause. Meningitis and septicaemia are diseases that particularly affect the under-fives and claim many lives each year. The Foundation relies on your voluntary donations to fund its work in research, awareness and support for people affected by the diseases. So, help from you could save a young life. If you don't fancy jumping out of a plane then you can simply donate on-line or get involved in other fundraising events at this site.

Places for the jump are running out fast, so if you'd like to parachute in aid of Meningitis Research Foundation, call the fundraising team on 01454 281814 now!

What progress is being made?

Since it was founded in 1989, the charity has awarded 122 research grants, leading to many advances in the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia. The total value of the Foundation's investment in vital scientific research is nearly £13.5/€19 million.
