Wyeth's dotty delight for Foundation

02 September 2004

Dotty, spotty - and maybe slightly potty.

The staff at Wyeth went one step further than your usual dress-down day on Friday 20 August to raise funds for Meningitis Research Foundation's work in tackling meningitis and septicaemia.

If it could be worn, it had spots on it. If it could be baked, it had spots on it as Dotty Friday gripped the pharmaceutical company.

Denise Vaughan, chief executive of Meningitis Research Foundation, who was in attendance as the fundraising crashed through the £4,000 barrier, commented: 'I was delighted to be asked to Dotty Friday. Everyone has been incredibly generous towards the charity's work. I was particularly impressed by the originality, creativity and, in some cases, downright bravery of the costumes sported by Wyeth's staff.'

Many thanks from everyone at the Foundation to all involved in Wyeth's Dotty Friday.

What progress is being made?

Since it was founded in 1989, the charity has awarded 122 research grants, leading to many advances in the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia. The total value of the Foundation's investment in vital scientific research is nearly £13.5/€19 million.
