Know About Pneumo

13 February 2006

Meningitis Research Foundation supports the 'Know About Pneumo' campaign to inform all over 65s in the UK about pneumococcal disease.

Pneumococcal disease, including pneumococcal meningitis, puts around 18,000 over 65s a year in hospital, and for between 10-15% the results of the disease can prove fatal.

And yet in a recent survey over 70% of people questioned admitted to not having heard of pneumococcal disease.

The Know About Pneumo campaign, supported and launched today by actor Richard Wilson aims to increase awareness of pneumococcal disease and the steps that can be taken to prevent it.
