Call for manufacturers to develop new rapid diagnostic tests

The World Health Organization (WHO) is calling for new, effective tests to help diagnose meningitis faster.

Meningitis Research Foundation recently held a meeting with global experts to discuss meningitis priorities and a simple rapid diagnostic test (RDT) was highlighted as being crucial and long overdue.

Following this meeting, WHO is now inviting manufacturers of RDTs to submit an application for assessment against WHO requirements and international standards for meningitis RDTs. Products that meet the requirements will be eligible for procurement by WHO, UN agencies, and affiliated partner organisations.

The invitation is accessible at: https://www.ungm.org/Public/Notice/62300.
