Pudleston Rainbows help raise funds for MRF
07 February 2013
A Rainbow Guide Unit from Pudleston in Hereford has raised £254.00 by teaming up with Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) and organising a Boogie Fit fundraising Event.
Boogie Fit with Pete and Marvin is a DVD featuring Cbeebies’ Boogie Pete of Boogie Beebies and MRF’s mascot, Marvin the friendly monster. The aim of the DVD is to get children moving with the help of 6 specially created catchy songs and simple dance routines and is designed to appeal especially to pre-school children. As well as being great fun, it also aims to raise awareness of meningitis and septicaemia in nurseries, playgroups, and pre-schools and amongst parents and carers of children in the age group most at risk of the disease.
Rachel Bailey, Rainbows Guider said: “We supported Boogie Fit because it was a brilliant way to get the girls active as well as raising awareness of a disease that affects so many children in the UK. The Rainbows learnt the dance routines in Boogie Fit and were sponsored by family and friends as part of their Get Healthy challenge badge. They all had a great time and we managed to raise £254 for Meningitis Research Foundation."
Genna Vizard, Community Fundraiser at Meningitis Research Foundation, said: “We’re so grateful to Pudleston Rainbows for holding a Boogie Fit event for us. It’s so easy to do, once you have a date scheduled and a venue sorted all that’s left is to ask your friends and family to sponsor your child to learn the songs and dances with the help of Pete and Marvin. By buying this DVD you'll not only be helping your kids to get fit in a fun and interactive way but you'll be supporting us in our fight against a disease that kills more UK children under the age of five than any other infectious disease.”
Priced at just £8 (including p&p) the Boogie Fit Fundraising Pack includes the DVD, posters, stickers, balloons and meningitis symptom information – all you need to host your event. You can purchase the Boogie Fit pack by visiting www.meningitis.org/boogiefit
