Music 4 Meningitis

Music 4 Meningitis

On Saturday 18 March the people of Dumfries came out to support the fourth Music 4 Meningitis gig organised by Chris Marsh.

Held at The Venue in Dumfries, the audience were treated to performances by local bands The Lutras, Barstow Bats, The Stefan ft. Jo Blain and Mark iT Zero ft. Davie Jardine. The headline act was John Power and Jay Lewis of Britpop band Cast who played a set filled with new and old favourite tracks.

MRF supporter and event organiser Chris Marsh ran the first Music 4 Meningitis event back in March 2014 as what was initially meant to be a one-off event to mark his 40th birthday, but the event was such a success that he decided to bring it back for the fourth year running.

The event was well supported with performances by local bands and musicians, sponsorship from local businesses and the local community who came out in full support of the event to raise money for three deserving causes; Meningitis Research Foundation, The Music Room and Cash for Kids.

MRF Community Fundraiser, Katie Yule said “On behalf of Meningitis Research Foundation, I’d like to thank Chris, his wife Vanessa, son Ciaran and all those in the local community who helped to make the event such a success.

"It is by no means an easy task to organise an event like Music 4 Meningitis but Chris and his team pulled it off with style and the venue was absolutely buzzing. As a charity, we rely on the generosity and support of the local community to sustain our vital work.

"All money raised will help us to continue to fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of the disease, raise vital awareness of the symptoms and support those who have been affected.”
