Louise Bell from Manchester is currently preparing to take part in the Great South Run on 25 October 2009 on behalf of MRF.

Louise will be attempting the 10-mile challenge with son Anthony and best friend Zoe Underwood who are also supporting us and are hoping to raise £550.

Louise decided to support the MRF after surviving the deadly disease when she was just a baby. Despite doctors informing her parents that she would not survive,  Louise defeated the illness and escaped any major complications.

She now has two children and wants to raise funds to prevent the same thing happening to families like hers: “It’s a miracle that I’m here today and able to live a ‘normal’ and happy life. I’m fundraising for Meningitis Research foundation to do my bit in the fight against meningitis.”

Best friend Zoe, who is training hard in the local swimming pool and gym, said: “I’d run the Great South Run 100 times if it means someone like Louise is saved from these terrible diseases.”

If you would like to support Louise and her family in their challenge please visit her Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/louise-bell.
