Concert dedicated to mother who beat meningitis.
21 May 2012
Anna Taylor, 31, from Lindfield is performing at Clair Hall in Haywards Heath on Friday 29th June, to raise funds for MRF.
Anna said: “In March 2007, I woke to find my mum, Carol, in agony. She was rushed to hospital where she was diagnosed with Meningitis B, Septicaemia and Pneumonia and put on a life support machine as she fought to survive. Amazingly, she returned home after just ten days and went on to make a full recovery - something that doctors told us would never have been possible had I not called an ambulance when I did so she could receive vital antibiotics. Statistics show that 1 in 4 survivors affected by meningococcal bacteria are left with life altering after effects including permanent brain damage and loss of limbs so Mum was so lucky to recover unscathed.”
Anna's mum Carol said: "I am very grateful for my health and feel that the fifth anniversary since my recovery is the perfect time to celebrate life and music while raising awareness of meningitis and the work of MRF."
Anna will be singing songs from her debut album 'Already Here' as well as other easy-listening/pop songs. Jazz singer Lou Beckerman will also be performing, as will the wonderful local choruses Sussex Harmonisers and InChoir.
Chris Head, CEO of MRF said: “We rely on voluntary donations to fund our vital work into the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia, so every pound raised by Anna’s concert – ‘Music for Meningitis’ will make a huge difference. We are extremely grateful to Anna, her family and friends for undertaking this event on our behalf and we hope everyone will support them.”
Tickets are £12.50 and are available from Clair Hall on 01444 455440. For more details and to donate please visit: www.justgiving.com/musicformeningitis
