Payroll giving

Payroll Giving leaflet You can't change the past, but you can change the future with Payroll Giving

Every year around 2,500 people will be affected by meningitis and septicaemia in the UK alone. Sadly, one in ten will die, like 3 year old Morgan who lost her life to meningococcal septicaemia. Of those who survive one in seven will be left with after effects such as brain damage, deafness and amputations.

Payroll Giving is one of the most direct and convenient ways of donating regularly to Meningitis Research Foundation. Providing your employer offers a Payroll Giving scheme, you can give a regular amount straight from your monthly or weekly income. If you are in the UK, because the pledged amount is deducted before PAYE tax is, the donation is tax-free for you and the tax you would have paid goes to the charity instead.

What this means is if you pledge to give £10 a month, and pay tax at 22%, what it actually costs you is £7.80. This benefit is even greater if you pay tax at 40%.

Whatever the size of your donation it could help to change the future and make meningitis and septicaemia a thing of the past.

Perhaps I should have been more aware of the symptoms, then I would have noticed sooner.
