The Foundation's fundraising team in Scotland is happy to help organise and promote your fundraising events across the country.

If you would like advice about how to get started with an event of your own, to support us in one of the events listed below, or want to make use of our local knowledge, let us know and we'll be happy to help you out.

The charity funds research to prevent meningitis and septicaemia, and to improve survival rates and outcomes. The Foundation promotes education and awareness to reduce death and disability, and gives support to people affected.

April to August - Great Wee Scottish Walks

For tots and all under 16. Walks in Dumfries, Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow, Perth, Edinburgh and Galston.  For more information log on to  www.greatweescottishwalk

May 18 - Resolution Asset Management Women's 10k, Glasgow

Calling female runners for this ever popular 10k race, where the atmosphere is always electric and you are guaranteed a great day out! The race starts and finishes in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow. Ladies of all shapes, sizes and levels of fitness take part running, jogging or walking so there's no excuses!

There is no minimum sponsorship to raise, and we can help you with training information, sponsor forms, fundraising tips and a t-shirt or running vest to wear on the day.

May 25 - Edinburgh Marathon and Hairy Haggis Relay

The 2008 Albert Bartlett Edinburgh Marathon is set to be the biggest one yet with over 9,000 already entered. Entries close on 2 May 2008 so get your running shoes on!
 
Not quite ready for a full marathon yet but want to play a part? Then, we would like to hear from you. Why not get a team of four together and run the Hairy Haggis Relay. Exercise and great fun with fancy dress welcome.

May 25- Great Scottish Walk  - Glasgow
June 22 - Great Scottish Walk - Edinburgh

Challenge yourself by taking part in the 12 or 6-mile walks, or take things a bit easier by walking the Healthy Living Golden Mile.

Whichever route you pick, you will be joining a crowd of thousands as they wind through some of Edinburgh's and Glasgow's most beautiful landmarks and brilliant architecture, stopping for refreshments en route in the famously friendly watering holes.

August - Munro Madness

A popular event for avid mountaineers, hill walkers and ramblers alike! 

People can take part as individuals or as members of a corporate or private team. It is a real team-building opportunity, and a great chance to experience the glorious Scottish countryside. Bag that Munro you've been hankering after or take that walk you've been putting off for ages - all while helping to raise vital funds for the Foundation.

September 7 - Great Scottish Run

Runners can choose to run 10k or a 13-mile half marathon. The race starts in George Square and will take you past some of Glasgow's most famous attractions and will once again go over the Kingston Bridge before finishing on Glasgow Green.

There will also be a Junior FRESH 'N' LO Great Scottish Run on the previous day. This 3k race is open to 9 - 17 year olds.

September 21- The Falkirk Wheel Abseil

After a very successful event last year, our second abseil from the 'Wheel of Steel' seeks adventurous people to abseil from this unique Scottish landmark, the world's only rotating boatlift. If you've got the nerve, contact our Scotland office on 0131 228 3322.

October 5 - Loch Ness Marathon, 10K & Fun Run

A Monster Race...running alongside the shores of the world's most famous loch. The Loch Ness Marathon can lay claim to being one of the most scenic running routes in the world. Enjoy the amazing views and sample some of the freshest of fresh air. Lots of attractions for all the family. For more information, contact 0131 228 3322.

Static Collection Cans

Many thanks to our members and supporters who manage static cans for us. We are trying to get more collection cans in venues around the country, so please ask at your local pub, corner store, pharmacy and so on, if they would be happy to display a can on the premises, please put them in touch to make arrangements.
