Support the Foundation by taking part in a range of events from fun runs to competitive marathons, and from the world famous to the local.

Below we have listed just some of the running events taking place next year, so if any of these take your fancy or you want to take part in any other run, just get in touch with your local office or email run@meningitis.org and we'll set you up with:

May

4 - Great Edinburgh Run

Following an historic route, including Princes Street, Holyrood Park and Arthurs Seat, giving magnificent views of the city.

4 - Leeds Half Marathon

5 - Belfast City Marathon

In 2007, Belfast City Marathon raised £6,845 with 80 participants, a record for Northern Ireland office. With the option of marathon, team replay, walk or wheelchair and a fun run, not everyone needs to run 26 miles.

18 - BUPA Great Manchester Run*

Join Marvin the Monster, Meningitis Research Foundation's charity mascot at the BUPA Great Manchester Run on Sunday 18 May and help beat meningitis and septicaemia.

The BUPA Great Manchester Run is a 10K race that is perfect for first timers and fun runners. The run is increasing in popularity year on year, so 2008 promises to be a good one!

18 - Resolution Asset Management Women's 10k, Glasgow

25 - Edinburgh Marathon

25 - The Baker Hughes 10k and Fun Run, Aberdeen

25 - Plymouth Half Marathon

26 - The BUPA London 10,000*

The BUPA London 10,000 is a great new race organised by the London Marathon company that is perfect for first timers and fun runners. 

Demand for places is expected to be really high for the first running of the race next May, Meningitis Research Foundation has guaranteed places available and we also welcome applications from runners with their own place

June

1 - Great Midlands Fun Run, Sutton Coldfield

2 - Dublin Flora Women's Mini Marathon 10k

This marathon is one of the real highlights of the fundraising calendar. Join the largest women's fundraising event in Ireland. You can run, walk or stroll to raise funds for the charity.

Entry forms will be available in the Evening Herald and online at www.womensminimarathon.ie from early March 2008.

2 -  Cork City Marathon

9 and 10 - London Triathlon*

If just running seems a little too easy why not challenge yourself by entering the London Triathlon?

Taking place on 9 and 10 August 2008 the London Triathlon is Britain 's largest triathlon event and involves a gruelling race of swimming, cycling and running.

Meningitis Research Foundation has guaranteed places available in this event and competitors can take part either individually or as part of a team of three. All we ask is that individual competitors pledge to raise a minimum of £500 in sponsorship or that teams pledge to raise a minimum of £1,000.

7 - Adidas Women's Challenge, 5k Birmingham, Liverpool or London*

The Adidas Challenge is a Women's only 5K race and is held in three different locations across the country on the same day.

Choose from a half marathon or a 10k starting in George Square, taking in some of Glasgow's most famous attractions and finishing on Glasgow Green. The starting line for more information is www.run.glasgow.gov.uk  

14 - Bristol Half Marathon*

Each year the Bristol Half Marathon continues to grow, as does the Meningitis Research Foundation's team of runners. Whether you have your own place or you would like to run with one of our charity places we want to hear from you.

28 - Real, - Berlin Marathon*

Help beat meningitis and septicaemia by running for Meningitis Research Foundation in the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON.

Join our team and make the most of your Berlin running experience.

We have guaranteed places available and we also welcome applications from runners with their own place.

All we ask is that our charity place runners try and aim to raise a minimum of £500 in sponsorship (there is no minimum sponsorship for runners who secure their own place separately). As we aren't tied in with tour operators, you are free to make your own travel arrangements so you can have as long or as short a stay in Berlin as you like.

Your chance to take part in the world's biggest half marathon. As well as the largest field of runners this event has one of the biggest crowds, lining almost the entire 13-mile course making it a great run to take part in.

26 - BUPA Great South Run, Portsmouth*

Join the Meningitis Research Foundation's BUPA Great South Run team in 2008 and help beat meningitis and septicaemia.

The BUPA Great South Run takes place in Portsmouth and the 10-mile route passes many major tourist attractions including the Spinnaker Tower and HMS Victory. Last year Meningitis Research Foundation entered its largest team yet and we hope to better this success in 2008.

We have guaranteed places available and we also welcome applications from runners with their own place. Please note that our charity places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis so book early to avoid disappointment.
