The Foundation's fundraising team in England and Wales is happy to help organise and promote your fundraising events across the country.

If you would like advice about how to get started with an event of your own, to support us in one of the events listed below, or want to make use of our local knowledge, let us know and we'll be happy to help you out.

The charity funds research to prevent meningitis and septicaemia, and to improve survival rates and outcomes. The Foundation promotes education and awareness to reduce death and disability, and gives support to people affected.

May 18 - BUPA Great Manchester Run

Join Marvin the Monster, Meningitis Research Foundation's charity mascot at the BUPA Great Manchester Run on Sunday 20 May and help beat meningitis and septicaemia.

The BUPA Great Manchester Run is a 10K race that is perfect for first timers and fun runners. The run is increasing in popularity year on year, so 2008 promises to be a good one!

We have guaranteed places available and we also welcome applications from runners with their own place. Please note that our charity places are allocated on a first come, first served basis so book early to avoid disappointment.

May 26 - The Bupa London 10,000

This 10k is open to all-comers and the Foundation has a number of places up for grabs. If you'd like to run for the Foundation, then Claire would love to hear from you on 01454 281814 or email her at clairej@meningitis.org

June 29 - Guildford Bikeathon

A choice of routes for riders of all standards. Individuals, groups and firm's teams all welcome. Starting and finishing at Bushy Hill School, Merrow, it's £6 in advance for adults and £2 for juniors aged between 8 and 13 and everyone gets a free t-shirt on the day.

July 5 - LAD Cricket Match

In memory of Louie Arthur Doyle who died of Group A streptococcal meningitis and septicaemia aged just 15 months in April 2006.

Starting at 11am, this all day event will be held at  Veralum Park in St Albans. Tickets are £10 per adult or £25 per family which will include food and drink. As well as the cricket there will also be a raffle and an auction. For tickets contact Dawn Marsh on 07793 882027.
