Meningitis Awareness Week 2010 - Get the Message
06 September 2010
With cases of meningitis and septicaemia increasing in Autumn and peaking in Winter in the UK and Ireland, MRF's Awareness Week, September 20 - 26, provides an important platform to remind people of the devastating effects of meningitis and septicaemia and the measures that can be taken to protect against the diseases.
This year we want teenagers and young adults to Get the Message.
After the under-fives, 14-24 year olds are most at risk from meningitis and septicaemia.
During Awareness Week we'll be finding out just how much the student population of the UK and Ireland know about the diseases, their symptoms and vaccinations against meningitis and septicaemia. And you'll have the opportunity to pit your wits against the students as the Student Meningitis Survey goes on-line.
We'll be making sure that vital symptoms information gets where it's needed by sending our wallplanners and posters to universities, colleges and sixth forms around the UK and Ireland.
You can help us during Awareness Week. If you, a friend or a family member had meningitis or septicaemia between the ages of 14 and 24 and live in the UK or Ireland, we'd like you to be part of the campaign. If you'd like to help, please contact Kirsten.
