Hi, I'm Adrian, MRF's Communications Manager, and I spent a very productive day yesterday at MRF's Meningitis Symposium 2010.
Our symposia are freely open to health professionals, academics, MRF members and staff, as well as nurses who answer our Freefone 24 hour helpline
The event was packed with talks from some of the leading experts in the field of meningitis and septicaemia. MRF Member SueBburke also talked very movingly about how meningitis has affected her family's life
Sue's son Cieran had meningococal meningitis when he was nine months old, and the after affects that Cieran has, including neurological damage, has had a huge impact on both him and his family
One of the main theme of the day was the provision, or lack of, after care for survivors of meningitis and septicaemia.
What topics would like to see covered in future symposia?
