Hi I'm Shirley and I'm Head of Helpline and Membership at MRF.
MRF staff were thrilled to meet our Bristol members at the Harbour Festival, over the weekend.
Being selected as one of the participating charity stands we were able to raise awareness of meningitis and septicaemia and raise funds for scientific research. Members visited to add their support, tell us their stories and keep us up to date with personal progress.
Many rattled buckets and gave symptoms information to thousands of festival goers. Both days had beautiful sunshine, although it wasn’t warm where we were situated. For some reason the charity village had its own microclimate and also acted a little like a wind tunnel at times so those manning the stall were encouraged to bring a jumper.
However, the weather stayed fine and the ships sailed serenely by.
Hopefully we shall have an equally successful event at
Blenheim Palace, jousting in the summer sunshine next Sunday!
