Membership of Associations

Meningitis Research Foundation is a member of the following:

The Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC)

The AMRC was founded in 1972 and established as a formal organisation in 1987. The AMRC's objectives are to further medical research in the UK generally and in particular to advance the effectiveness of those charities of which a principal activity is medical research. Meningitis Research Foundation joined the AMRC in July 1998.

The Telephone Helplines Association (THA)

The THA was established in March 1996, working with helplines to achieve the highest quality response to all those seeking information, advice and help via the telephone.

Meningitis Research Foundation joined the Association in 1997. THA members have adopted the Guidelines for Good Practice as the fundamental principle for running a quality helpline service.

In 2003, the Foundation's Freefone24 hour helpline was accredited with the Telephone Helpline Association's Quality Standard. We were re-acredited in 2007.
